KINNEYFORDC raised $435K in the first quarter — a record for a first-time DC candidate. DC wants change!
WASHINGTON, DC — Kinney Zalesne, Democratic candidate for Congress to represent the District of Columbia, has filed her first campaign finance report with the Federal Election Commission — revealing over $435,000 raised in just 10 weeks — more than four times what any candidate for Delegate has raised in a quarter, and is believed to be a fundraising record for any first-time candidate in DC.
The milestone cements Zalesne’s place as a top contender in the race and underscores the excitement for new, bold leadership in the District.
“This campaign is a clear signal that Washingtonians don’t want more of the same,” said Zalesne. “In these times, they want new ideas, fresh leadership, and a Delegate who has the national relationships to do the job right.”
A 30-year DC resident, Zalesne has built her career on public service and community leadership. She served as Counsel to Attorney General Janet Reno at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she worked to protect civil rights and expand access to justice. As President of PeerForward, she helped thousands of DC students become the fi rst in their families to go to college. Most recently, she co-chaired Women for Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Committee, organizing women nationwide to campaign and push for progress.
Zalesne is meeting with voters across the city, hosting community events, and making a compelling case that under her leadership, DC can — and will — achieve full representation.
